About Doug Beck
For thirty-eight years, Doug Beck has proudly served as a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562, living his blue-collar values and helping others both as a skilled tradesman and as a mentor and advocate for his union brothers and sisters. He is also the president of the Missouri State Building & Construction Trades Council.
A firm believer in the power of quality local schools to educate our children and strengthen our communities, Doug served for nine years as a director on the Affton Board of Education, including two years as president. During his tenure, he was integral in the expansion of early childhood education as well as increasing opportunities in STEM.
Doug went on to serve two terms in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. During his time in the House, he was the ranking minority member of the Economic Development and Workforce Development committees and also served on the Veterans Committee and Children and Families Committee. He was elected in 2020 to represent the residents of the 1st Senatorial District in the Missouri Senate. In 2022, he was elected by his peers to serve as Senate Minority Floor Leader.
Community organizations have shown their appreciation to Doug for his hardwork and dedication to helping people. In 2023, he was honored as Labor Advocate of the Year by the Jefferson County Democratic Central Committee. In 2024, he received the Missouri Nurses Association Legislative Award in recognition of his support of the nurses of Missouri.
Born and raised in St. Louis County, Doug graduated from Lindbergh High School and St. Louis Community College. He has been married for 40 years to his wife, Marilyn. They have two adult children and four young grandchildren, and they share their home with their two dogs.
